hi all
seen rheummy today
altho i'm still not well enough--damn throat now have b---dy cold---she did take throat swab one thing my GP hasn't done
she wants me to start MTX in a couple of weeks when i'm well
fatigue cannot be resolved as you know but she says need to have long discussion with GP re Depression--she thinks i am depressed and very down
very down being understatement---so maybe back onto meds--work she suggestes i don't give up--yet---as she is worried i will ebcome even more depresed
so ahve to phone and make an appoint next week with GP and go from there
how did Rose and the rest of us that had appoints today get on??

Hi Carol - so glad you felt listened to and cared for. Hope you get over your bad throat and the MTX works for you. Hope it will be easier to speak to your GP now that you have spoken to the rheumy and you get the support you need there.
Have a better weekend now that the appointment is over. thinking of you XX Ailsa

Hi Carol
Sorry to hear you feel so low at the moment, can so understand how you feel, so very difficult. Even before I got RA I know depression can make you feel very tired and low so in some ways it is a vicious circle. I m sure you are very positive and have a kind and caring team who are looking after you which helps so much, and when you start the mtx and haven t got the nasty cold you will feel a lot better and things will improve.
Thinking of you Julia x

Hi Carol As others have said RA is so very much more than "joints" and often other things can be overlooked and not dealt with. Hope you are able to get the help you need and feel a lot better soon. Once the medication is better sorted and you start to feel some improvement your mood will lift too and the fatigue may be a bit less tiresome. Do make sure though that you don't start on the methotrexate until the cold/sore throat is long gone! Keep us posted Caz, Lyn x

Hi Caz, I know what you mean about feeling swollen, I am not like that now but in the beginning I was. You are better to rest with your feet up, I used to like just standing in the shower it was the only relief I was able to get then. Then lie down on your bed etc. and rest, my hands were the worst they were so swollen and red and hot they did not bend at all. It is true once your medication is sorted out you will be on the up again. You are not alone we have all been there but it does get better, you have to believe that. Thinking about you Lorna x

Hi Caz,
Sorry to hear you are still feeling so bad. Did the GP spend a decent amount of time with you when he decided you are not depressed? Continually feeling ill with RA and your sore throat that is dragging on will naturally make you feel down, but once your throat has cleared if you still feel depressed go back and tell him. Depression seems to go hand in hand with RA for a lot of us. I really hope you start to feel better soon and can get onto the mtx in the hope that it is effective for you. Don't do anything drastic like giving in your notice at work yet, wait at least until the mtx has had time to work.
Love, Doreen xx

hi doreen
i have seen a different doctor recently she is brill--- was about to post on friday but no power all day!!!!
due to see her again tomorrow
still feeling very tired throat not sore but voice is not consistant
she did a lot!!!b of blds on thursday so get results tomorrow she is looking for glanduar fever --but she is beeing honest--not sure what she will find--if anything
stillsigned off--work NOT very happy---they have called me in for a meeting--if well enough --not sure why as i have not had more than 2/12 weeks signed off--altho have been off work for 41/2 as 2 were pre booked hols----see what happens tomorrow --hubby and i have been discussing me giving up work for best aprt of 12 months on and off--so handing in my notice will not have been a hasty desision--and to be honest i think i maybe 'pushed' if i don't ---i don't think they are going to be patient!!!!
saw my sister today--she has ME--has had for 7/8 years but in remission and looking better than i do!!!!!!!!!!
i will mention this to doc tomorrow not sure of relevance but we will have to see--symptoms i am showing are SOOOOO similar to what she had a t her lowest point!
will keep you posted

Hi Caz,
I'm glad your doctor is being thorough, it sounds like she is determined to find out what is wrong with you. Do tell her about your sister's ME, the more information she has to go on the better. Keep us posted after you have seen her tomorrow, and good luck with the work meeting.
Love, Doreen xx

Hi Caz Good luck with the doctor tomorrow, hope things go well. Glandular Fever is a real pain and can really drag you down leaving you very depressed. It also hangs about in the system for ever and a day! Do hope she is able to give you some answers and something to help current problems. Also hope the work issues go okay; as you say it won't be a hasty decision and sometimes it's best to put your health first. But only you know what's right for you All the best Caz, Lyn x

hi all
been doctors!! quote from her was''you are entitled to feel rubbish''--not glandular fever
sisiters ME noted -not ignored--but not thought to be relevant at this time
signed off for a further 5 weeks--just not recovering
although we have made BIG descision--i have handed in my notice at work--didn't go to meeting with manager as was signed off again
work that i do--did--doctors receptionost ---not condusive to recovery--i.e REST
the surgery deals with approx 4500 patients and that swells as you can emagine in the summer
it is very strange that i do not have to return to work--at this point--i hope to return to a job at some point
still take each day as it comes
thanks for all your support
love

Hello Caz. How are you . Sorry to have missed your post I was away for a few days. Ah sorry you of work for another 5 weeks but your GP must think you need it and your job is stressfull with all those un well people. Shame you left I think I would have tried to stay then you would have got Stat sick. What happens now ? I have been off work since 23rd March so I know how the worry effects us. I hope to go back initially on a very part time basis. See how things go. Good luck and hope you feeling stronger Rose

Hi caz sorry you are feeling rough still.
trouble is RA is an illness. Sometimes people get so caught up in the painful joints and horrid stiffness they forget it is an illness. You WILL be ill with it.
There are a shed load of treatments other than the MTX if that doesnt work out.
Can you manage to do anything to keep your mind on something else? Even watching a film. I have downloaded some books onto ipod to listen to when I cant do much else.

hi all
been thinking about resigning for several months as i am not able to think straight!! let alone be ppolite to patients. a good friend and work mate actually said to me not so long ago that i had been pushing myself to come into work now it seems i pushed myself too hard i had already cut my hours from full time to 18 hours so i couldn'y cut any more as with travel and running the car it would not have been worth the time as it was i was working my first hour each day to pay for travel etc
i have decided to take the opportunity to have a good break until Xmas -which isn't that far away---then take it from there
we will see-
i may do something voluntary like puppy walking for hearing dogs for the deaf to keep me on the ball--but for now think i will just take it easy
many thanks for all your support and good wishes
to end the post on some lovely news our daughter got engaged and is getting married in sorrento italy next year--now i really do have a motive to get well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
